Following discussions yesterday with local councillors and head teachers about a number of matters that have come to his attention subsequent to the Cabinet meeting on 28 February, particularly concerning the effect on Ewell Grove Infants School, Cllr Tim Hall the Cabinet Member for Children and Learning tabled an amendment at this morning's Council meeting.
As far as Wallace Fields Infants School and Junior School are concerned, the effect of this was to make the proposed introduction of the "Tiered Sibling" admissions criteria immediate from 2013 at both schools, rather than phasing them in gradually as originally proposed by the Cabinet.
This amendment was welcomed by both county councillors for Epsom and passed by Council nem con, with just one councillor abstaining.
