
Colin Taylor has been a Borough Councillor since 1999. He was born in the West Midlands and has lived in Dublin, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wales and India but settled in Epsom in 1970. He is married with two grown-up children and a grandson.
Colin is a Cambridge graduate, a Chartered Engineer, a retired Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers and an Honorary Life Member of the Steel Construction Institute. A BSI Distinguished Service Certificate marks his extensive contributions to British and European technical standards.
On Epsom & Ewell Borough Council (EEBC), Colin currently has the following roles:
Colin is currently Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat group, which is the main opposition group on Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.
Since June 2001, he has also been a member of Surrey County Council, where he represents Epsom & Ewell South-West, which comprises Stamford ward, Town ward and part of Court ward, Epsom. He was re-elected in May 2005 and again in June 2009, each time with an increased majority. He is Chair of the Lib Dem group at County Hall.

As a Science and Engineering Ambassador with Surrey SATRO, he has helped with science and engineering weeks in local schools.
Colin is a Trustee of the Sunnybank Trust and a member of Amnesty International, the Consumers Association, the Epsom Common Association, RSPB, the National Trust and CPRE - the Campaign to Protect Rural England.
For holidays, Colin prefers boating and enjoys sailing a cabin yacht on the Norfolk Broads or around the Greek Islands.
