Julia Kirkland, chosen as the Lib Dem candidate in the forthcoming by-election on 26th February, is hoping to take over in Court ward and join Councillors David Morgan and David Buxton in representing the residents of Longmead, Livingstone Park and the roads in between.

Julia says "I'm really looking forward to taking up issues like Horton Chapel, the Hollymoor Lane and Horton Centre shops, plus the lack of facilities in Court Rec. I live in Clarendon Park so I know all about the problems associated with the new estates - like Livingstone Park! My children go to the local school, I'm a school governor and my husband works for Surrey County Council, so I feel I've got a lot to offer local residents."

Julia invites residents to contact her on 01372 739430 or email to juliakirkland@btinternet.com.

After addressing the council's Environment Committee last week (see Related Link below), Julia is delighted that they have agreed to pay for demolition of the Sefton Arms. She has asked for a progress report on Horton Chapel and has also learned that the disused pavilion in Court Rec will be demolished shortly and a new modular building erected in its place. She hopes to arrange a meeting with representatives from Rosebery Housing Association to discuss the Hollymoor Lane redevelopment.

Lib Dem Cllr David Buxton has been pressing both the council and RHA for action for many months, but the economic climate means there could be a long delay in getting any action. The shop-keeper still in operation in Hollymoor Lane would rather stay in situ for as long as possible, so councillors and Julia are pressing for proper security on the site as an interim measure.
