A warm welcome to an experienced by-election candidate

Julie Morris has lived and worked in Epsom for 45 years
This weekend the Epsom & Ewell Liberal Democrats have announced that Julie Morris will be their candidate for the Town ward by-election. The date of this by-election is not yet known, but is expected to be in late March. Lindsey Fisk, the retiring councillor, said: "I'd like to introduce our excellent candidate to you: Julie Morris was a councillor for nearly six years until she lost her seat by three votes in 2003. She is an experienced campaigner and utterly dedicated to the needs of local residents and to the well-being of our borough.Town ward will do no better than to elect Julie to serve alongside my colleagues Colin Taylor and Charles Wood."
Julie Morris was educated at Lynton Prep and then Rosebery School, both in Epsom. She worked at WS Atkins for 13 years, then for an electronics company and now runs her own landscape gardening business. She has two children, both at university.
Julie lives just inside College ward on its boundary with Town ward. She was elected a Councillor in 1997 and went on to be leader of the Lib Dem council group for three years. She has driven numerous campaigns including the Daffodil Challenge and was a founder member of Local Agenda 21 (now known as the Environment Forum). She is a committed environmentalist.
Julie wants our hospital to stay in Epsom, more small-scale shops locally, better parking and enforcement, for the Green Belt to remain intact and for Epsom & Ewell to become a leader in the field of recycling.
